Rocket achieved THD status this week when he received his Therapy Dog certificate and patch from the AKC. THD level means 50 recognized visits to schools, hospitals, or (in Rocket's case) nursing homes. Many of the patients had to leave their pets at home, so they are very happy when Rocket comes by to see them. The newest member of the Wodan team, Raisin, is following in Rockets footsteps. Raisin stepped up to the challenge and participated in the Bronco De-Stress Fest. This was the first big outing for this little man. He had to navigate stairs, slippery flooring, deal with lots of loud noises, music playing in the background and jazzy exercise up on the screen. Even with all of these distractions he was up to the challenge and enjoyed the attention. We only see great things in the future for the boy. Today, Rocket received his CA (Coursing Ability) Title at the Carolina Irish Setter Club Coursing event, hosted at the Piedmont Kennel Club in Charlotte. Everyone was impressed with the newcomer, and many hadn't seen a Mudi before today. Even the judges said, "Rocket lives up to his name!"
Over the last several months, Rocket has been busy working on his Barn Hunt skills, doing community service at local nursing homes, and studying for (and passing!) his CGC. Along the way, he also achieved this TrickDog Novice status as well. Go Rocket! Dory's received her Junior Herding Dog ribbon today at the AHBA sponsored herding event in Pittsboro. The judges loved her focus and demeanor during her run. Shout out to Claire Apple for all the great training! InfoDog is a great resource for finding competitions and events in your area.
