We have a new pupster in the group. Togo is our favorite whippet puppy! His personality is very different from our Mudik, and he is very attentive and smart. Within a few weeks of showing up at Wodan Kennels, he has earned his Novice Trick Dog title.
Our Mudi litter born in November has been doing well and having lots of fun. They're already moved into their new homes and are working on new skills like turkey chasing, exploring, and professional poses for the camera. Follow us on Facebook for more pics of the Wodan pack!
Bailey, Denali, Rocket, and Sassy all won multiple ribbons this weekend at the NADD qualifying event. Rocket and Bailey have invites to the nationals; Sassy and Denali still have time to qualify!
Bailey comes to us from Monica, who has a working line of Collies. Bailey has taken to frisbee pretty quickly; some of her mates from prior litters are out playing Frisbee and Flyball.
Sassy is our newest addition to the pack here at Wodan. After a long ride from Mexico, she needed a few days to acclimate and destress. After that though, she started socializing with the other dogs and quickly came to love her new life.
Dory sent us a (video) post card showing us the fun of owning a pool. We're jealous!
Two years ago we adopted Dory, a small boxer, to give her a new lease on life. She was only 5 weeks old when we saw her; she had to wait at the shelter for a week to be old enough to be spayed before coming home. From the day she walked into this house she was about playing and making you laugh. She was one in a million type dog who would try anything asked by you. She never complained and always accepted the new animals that came in and out of the house. She was always willing to play any new sport even if it was by her own rules. (Like picking up the frisbee markers on lure coursing instead of chasing the lure.) She never met a person she did not like. Dory could raise any puppies, she was an excellent nanny and taught the puppies manners. She also enjoyed herding. But her best asset was being supportive to those who needed her. Although, as a puppy, she would walk like a bull in a china shop, she has learned how to settle and now lives for her person. Dory from now on will be known as Ruby because to her owner she is the perfect gem. We wish them well on their continued success.
Weekends aren't always a busy time for Rocket, Usually only a trip to the nursing home to visit friends and maybe a ride around town to pick up more dog food and treats. But this weekend was packed.
Friday was herding day. Rocket got First Place (!) on his first attempt at his Herding Ranch Dog (HRD) test. Friday night was Disc Dog training, trying out for a league starting next month.
Saturday morning was the second test for HRD, which he passed with flying colors. (Orange and blue actually, see picture) And Saturday afternoon was a visit with nursing home friends.
Sunday was Flyball practice and schmoozing with the other owners.
Rocket made it to the 500 point mark today with two FastCAT runs at the Piedmont Kennel Club in Charlotte. He is listed on the AKC website as the fastest mudi! Check it out at www.apps.akc.org//apps/fastcat_ranking/index.cfm?display
Already on the calendar for 2019 are more runs!
